In the face of fierce criticism and pressure, 8 of the founding 12 clubs have stepped down. The controversial European Super League is therefore expected to be virtually over.

However, Barcelona president Juan Laporta, one of the four surviving clubs in the proposed tournament, does not think so. On the contrary, he sees a great need for the Super League in the current financial situation. He offered to hold talks with UEFA to resolve the issue.

The European Super League came on the scene with a lot of response. But now it has become like a sinking balloon. Despite the announcement of the Super League to state their position against UEFA, the highest governing body of European football, it is no longer happening suddenly.

Moreover, the possibility of this tournament is not being ruled out now by the president of the Spanish club Barcelona, Juan Laporta. According to him, there is still a need to organize this tournament considering the overall aspect. So the plan to organize this super league is still going on, said Laporta.

In addition, whether Barcelona will play in the tournament depends on the votes of the club's associate members. Barcelona will hold a vote with its associate members on participating in the Super League. The club will decide where the lion's share of votes will go.

Earlier in the day, Laporta said he was "cautious" about the Super League. It needs (Super League), but the words of the allies are final. The big clubs contribute a lot in terms of income and of course we have to be like us in the distribution of money.

In an interview with Spanish media, he added, ‘It must be an interesting tournament based on the quality of the sport. We are in favor of the domestic leagues and ready for an open discussion with UEFA. I want more teams to make it a great tournament. I think it is possible to solve the problem through talks.

Although suspended for the time being, Laporta said he plans to host the Super League. His comment, ‘There is pressure on some clubs, but the project is still ongoing. We (big clubs) make very important investments, pay a lot more, things must be taken into account.
